Summer Sun

A Poem by Alyssa Magyar

Alyssa Magyar

The summer sun sets over the still lake

The air still warm from the summer sun’s rays

Thus begins the long weeks of summer break

The days begin with children wide awake

And end with campfires and marshmallows ablaze

The summer sun sets over the still lake

Children laugh while riding on a boat’s wake

Tubing throughout the whole entire day

Thus begins the long weeks of summer break

Beachgoers lay on their towels and bake

While kids play in the sand building mazes

The summer sun sets over the still lake.

The ducks in the water follow their drakes

Back to their nests and wait in the warm haze

Thus begins the long weeks of summer break.

Fireworks light up the sky as the ground shakes

People tailgating on their Chevrolets

The summer sun sets over the still lake

Thus begins the long weeks of summer break.
