The Brass and the Woodwinds
A Villanelle by Annie Claus.
May 15, 2020
The brass and the woodwinds play to the beat
Each day we walk down the hall to the blasts
In I walk to hear the tapping of feet.
Years of playing and learning in my seat
Made each day effortless to forecast
The brass and the woodwinds play to the beat.
The days flew by and each were very neat
The end was near but ended in a contrast
In I walk to hear the tapping of feet.
School year ends frantically in complete
And now there are only memories passed
The brass and the woodwinds play to the beat.
The days spin round in my head on repeat
A mystery on how they passed so fast
In I walk to hear the tapping of feet.
Even though those days have ended incomplete
Remembrance will be with me ‘til the last
The brass and the woodwinds play to the beat
In I walk to hear the tapping of feet.
